End Of Daylight Savings

Last week of daylight savings in Victoria and what better way to complete the weekend with the Formula One Grand Prix.
The weekend started on Thursday, first game of footy for season between Carlton and Richmond drawing a crowd 86972 otherwise 86971 if yours truly was not there. A great weekend for Carlton fans, a convincing win by 83 points against The Tigers and on Saturday the Magpies were eaten by the Crows.

Now back to the Grand Prix, Who! would it be Button or Barrichello, both teams members holding pole position 1 and 2. First twilight Grand Prix and a disastrous start for Webber.
Who! would book a dinner table for 18 at Lygon St on a Saturday when the Grand Prix is on. Come 20h30 and the red Ferrari's start rolling in one ,two ... six and all in parking set aside right opposite Gurkas of 258 Lygon St. Who! did the booking thank you.. thank you.
And to wind down daylight savings, 100000 Grand Prix fans would be swaying to the sound of! you guessed it The Who.

Blogging comes to VISS

Some reflections on my students'(14-16yrs) response to the idea of blogging. On first introducing the to the idea of recording their book reviews onto www.blogger.com there was a resounding 'NO'. Eight out of twelve students presented various negatives on the idea ranging from ' nobody is interested in reading about books' to 'we don't have the time' to ' our parents will ask, "What's this-you call this learning?" '. The other 4 were neutral. Now 3 weeks later students can't wait to share their reading with their mates as well as parents. I'm proud to say every single parent has looked at their child's blogging and all were highly appreciative of the innovative learning strategies we are applying in our classrooms. Students have presented this idea to the Middle School assembly and written about it in the Newsletter to parents. The sense of commu nity and pride that blogging has fostered is very, very evident amongst the students in the class.
